The Last Fish Hunter

Sail away with The Malaysian Fish Hunters and journey through coasts of Terengganu in this documentary about the last inheritor of the ancient art of fishing.

The documentary shadows 70-year old native of Terengganu, Harun Muhammad, an ordinary man with an extraordinary gift—mastering the language of the fish. A gift honed from older and simpler times, Harun unveils the secrets of the seas by immersing himself in the waters to listen in on the whispers and murmurs of the aquatic creatures. In doing so, Harun is able to identify the varieties of fish and pinpoint their location.

Filmed against the rich backdrop of Terengganu, Malaysia, The Malaysian Fish Hunters is a documentary imbued with tradition and culture, and a nostalgic reminder of what could eventually become a lost world.
