Making Peace Down Under

16th December 2014 marked a grim day on the Australian calendar, when a lone Muslim gunman seized a café in Sydney followed by a hostage crisis and the death of 2 hostages.

The incident sparked massive global attention as Australia grapple with its rest terrorist attack after over 30 years. With more than 400 thousand or 3% of the population being Muslims, Australia finally comes face to face with the fearsome “Islamic militancy”.

But how real is this threat of radicalism? How much has it changed the general view of Australians on Muslims? And how do Muslims cope with being labelled a security threat?

This documentary examines the impact of terrorism and rising Islamophobia in Australia. It will also highlight the growth of Islam as the fourth largest religion in Australia.
